No one wants to go hunting around the small print to see how much they'll be charged for a successful sale. Here's all the information you could possibly need regarding payments on the Name.ai marketplace.

Accepting payments from practically anywhere
We currently accept payments on the Name.ai marketplace via:

Escrow
All transactions on the Name.ai marketplace are in USD. Payments are subject to the restrictions listed below, and only 1 payment method may be used to complete each transaction. PayPal and cryptocurrency are not supported.
Transaction funding
We have a few simple rules in place to make sure transactions go as smoothly as possible. Buyers may pay in the following ways:
Pay Online
- Payment by credit or debit card is accepted on most carts.
- Carts above the online-payment limit must be completed with another method.
- The rail offered depends on your billing region — only one appears at a time.
Account Credits
- Payment from your Name.ai balance is always accepted, provided it covers the full cart total.
- Closeout and auction names are settled from Account Credits only.
Pay Later
- Payment by bank transfer is offered where it has been enabled for your account.
- The domain is released once the transfer clears.
Escrow
- Domains owned by another seller settle through escrow by default.
- High-value Name.ai-owned sales can route to escrow as well.
- Escrow names are bought through the escrow flow rather than the standard cart.
Name.ai may refuse to allow a given payment method for any reason.
Payouts to sellers
Get paid easily and with minimum fuss.
- Name.ai pays the seller their net proceeds once the buyer confirms the transfer — escrow releases within 24 hours of that confirmation.
- The bank transfer itself takes 1–3 business days, depending on your bank.
- The domain handover ahead of it averages 48 hours, so most sales complete end-to-end within about a week.
- A registry with a mandatory waiting period on transfers, or a buyer who delays confirming receipt, extends the timeline — see supported TLDs for which extensions carry conditions.
Our fees
Transaction fees
- Service Fee: 3% of the sale price up to $5,000, plus 0.3% of the amount exceeding $5,000
- Premium Payment Fee: 3.88% of the sale price (default limit of $5,000) for payment by credit or debit card
Commission fees
- Seller-Negotiated (no broker): No commission
- Buy it Now: 10% commission (includes premium payment fee)
- Brokered: 15% commission, minimum $175
- Syndicated: 20% commission, minimum $175

Nothing upfront on the self-list track. Name.ai charges a commission only when the domain sells: no commission on a seller-negotiated sale with no broker, 10% on Buy it Now, 15% on a brokered sale and 20% on a syndicated sale, with a $175 minimum on the last two. It depends on how the domain sells. Seller-negotiated sales with no broker carry no commission, Buy it Now is 10% (which includes the premium payment fee), brokered sales are 15% with a $175 minimum, and syndicated sales are 20% with a $175 minimum. Escrow releases your payout within 24 hours of the buyer confirming the transfer. The bank transfer then takes 1–3 business days depending on your bank.
The domain handover averages 48 hours, payout is released within 24 hours of buyer confirmation, and funds arrive 1–3 business days later — so most sales complete within about a week of an accepted offer.

Our team monitors all active transfers. If confirmation is delayed, we follow up with the buyer. Escrow does not release until confirmation is received.
Name.ai does not deduct taxes. You are responsible for declaring and paying any applicable taxes on domain sale income in your jurisdiction.
